NYSC CDS PALAVA

Hey guys!

I have come to formally apologize for not writing Part 2 of “NYSC: We are more united than we think”. I have valid reasons to do so. I felt like I had not gotten the full NYSC experience to give a well-resourced article but part two would be coming very soon.

But this is not it. This is just one amebo story I would like to share.

So it was one of my CDS days (for those that do not know, it is called Community Development Service, where NYSC members gather in different groups to discuss and embark on community projects together) and I had to get there early because the late fine had increased to N1,000.

Who can afford that in this Economy?

My CDS day is Tuesday and it is called Editorial CDS. I like my CDS because it is filled with mass communication graduates and you know how social and “out there” mass comm. people are. They always have opinions to share and are generally fun. Reminded me of Uni.

Anyways, on that particular day, I didn’t have a choice but to sit in the front cause everywhere was almost filled but I was still glad that I did not have to pay that N1,000.

After the NYSC anthem and the opening prayers, the president, Kingsley, introduced the CDS to the newcomers and got them to introduce themselves. We got more girls again as usual. Mass comm is saturated with women lol.

After the introductions, the vice president, Sandra, called for the Health Beat to come out.
So our CDS is subdivided into “beats” which cover every sector of the news; health beat, entertainment beat, sports beats, etc, and every week each beat present something to the group.

The health beat talked about mental health that day and gave us the various forms of mental health disorders.

While listening to the wonderful presentation, one of the first batches of latecomers sat beside me. She was slim, caramel-skinned, and really pretty.

Throughout the presentation, we had already exchanged many views when they were talking about depression, personality disorders, and PTSD.

But lol this is not the story.

When the second batch of latecomers started filling up. I noticed someone kept staring in our direction. Knowing that I am not in any crush-related relationship with anybody in this CDS, I decided to know who he was staring at.

It was the pretty girl beside me.

When she finally looked up at him, her face also stiffened. She smiled at him, picked up her phone, and started pressing it.

Omo the tension no be here!

I and that babe knew that she was not pressing anything!

As the presentation continued, they kept sending glances at each other and I was just enjoying the fun.

He had been trying to mouth a few words to her but she could not hear or understand.

That was when I decided to give my guy a chance.

I stood up a bit later when they were calling the attendance to buy a donut. I had not even gotten out the door, this dude was in my seat and engaged in a conversation with the pretty babe. After buying the donut, I waited a bit outside so he could set the parole very well.

I watched them a little bit, the girl was smiling and laughing on cue and it seemed like the guy was putting in his A game. She was not a small babe sha.

When I came back to sit on my seat, it was like I was “bad market”. I even told the guy sorry.

But I tried now.

When I got back, she had collected his attendance and filled it in for him.

God when! NYSC love mehn!

All the while I was there, the journalist in me wanted to ask if something was going on between them to have all my information intact. I held myself till after they had finished calling the attendance.

I asked her if she liked that guy.

She said No but very nervously.

Ehya! And I was shipping them.

I am sure something was going on, but it is normal for us girls to be defensive at times.

That is the amebo I wanted to share. What do you think about this?
